About Us

The Essential Oil Company was founded in 1993 by aromatherapist, Sue Foley (nee Barkshire).- The company supplies top quality pure essential oils, parabens free base products, aromatherapy accessories and holistic health & lifestyle products.

We have been established over 15 years and we are a bricks and mortar company with our shop & ecommerce operation based at Scrapps Hill Farm set in beautiful surroundings in the Hampshire countryside!

Founded in 1993 by aromatherapy, Sue Foley (nee Barkshire), we have built a solid reputation supplying therapeutic grade pure essential oils, aromatherapy accessories, parabens free products, and natural health products to qualified aromatherapists, doctors, vets, clinics, hospitals, hospices, colleges, health shops & beauty salons and we now offer a huge range of health, beauty & lifestyle products to the general public.

Prior to starting The Essential Oil Company, Sue was Commercial Manager for a large multinational company running four departments with particular emphasis on customer service, purchasing, quality, product management, distribution and on-time delivery.

Sue is qualified in anatomy & physiology, swedish massage, and aromatherapy and is passionate about finding effective and affordable drug-free solutions for chronic illness and general well-being. Initially the company focused on products using essential oils to enhance beauty, well-being and ambience which benefit both the body and home/office environment. Having suffered from fibromyalgia since the age of 16 Sue has sought natural remedies which alleviate the symptoms enormously. Symptoms include chronic fatigue, muscle pain and insomnia, and this is where we feel we specialise in treating chronic conditions without pharmaceuticals or that be used alongside standard medical drugs providing integrated medicine.

The Little Barn Gift Shop has given us scope to try lots of goodies that we think you will love! (cos we do). Having worked many years in customer service environments Sue also understands that it is better to under promise and over deliver! We try to make each customer feel valued regardless of order value.

Sue also does the website and you may have spotted she is not a website designer! So apologies if it's not as slick as some..... it is secure though - credit card numbers are encrypted using bank-approved 128-bit security - and hopefully we provide information such as full ingredients listings that many more punchier sites omit.

Sue's husband Sean is Company Secretary and is involved in many policy and product marketing decisions, although he works full time for a pharmaceutical company (God has got a sense of humour).

There is at least one company in China, claiming to be sole agents for China and Asia for The Essential Oil Company and have copied our logo and use the eoco website name in a different format. We are in no way connected to them and have no exclusive agreements or franchises with other companies. If you want the "real deal" then stay on this site. We are not responsible for any products that are bought through these types of companies.

The chillow slips inside your pillow case to give you a cool surface when you are having night 'flushes'. I used to wake up at least 5 times a night but now I wake only twice and am able to go straight back to sleep when I find a cool bit. My daughter uses it to get migraine relief. I have been taking a teaspoon of Coconut Oil morning and evening for a month now and noticed a huge improvement to my whole digestive system within 3 days. I suffer with Heartburn and Irritable Bowel Syndrome but have not done so since taking the Coconut Oil. I eat it straight from the fridge and it tastes like Coconut ice cream!
